To CAPO for initial classification and to decide on Branch to investigate Acknowledgement to complainants Investigation by CAPO Investigation by Divisional or Specialzed Police Formations Investigations monitored by CAPO Investigation results concluded by CAPO When criminal offences alleged,to Government Prosecutor for advice if deemed necessary Criminal proceedings instituted where appropriate Where necessary to Police Legal Adviser for advice on Disciplinary matters Disciplinary action proposed where appropriate Final investigation results vetted by Senior Superintendent(CAPO) or Chief Superintendent(Complaints & Internal Investigations Branch) Submission to IPCC for endorsement
